The adults were up early for marketing and preparing ingredients for the rendang & lemang. Pa left for Rembau market with Wan and Bang Teh before breakfast.
The market area was a bit deserted; most of the stalls were either not open or has not opened yet.
Wan stopped by the vegetable and santan stall with Bang Teh.
Bang Cik had volunteered to start the fire for the lemang. Being a boy scout, he had little problem to do it with Pa's assistance. Pak Lang also had a hand in it for his boy.
Meanwhile in the kitchen area, everybody were kept busy. Everyone had a role to play.
Just look at how busy these womenfolks were
Wan making sure the santan for the lemang is measured correctly before capping the bamboo end with banana leaf.
Activities outside was equally packed...washing up and preparing the firewood for the rendang.
Abg Afiq's assistance was called to light up the fire while my female cousins do the washing up.
The lemang was already placed near the fire started by Abg Afiq. Pak Lang making sure all is well.
Finally...the lemang is done. Abg Lokman and Abg Afiq keeping Bang Teh (the new lemang expert) company.
When all the lemang and rendang have been prepared, Pa spent some time and lots of energy to chop down the mango tree behind the bathroom with Pak Lang and Pak Su lending help. So did Mama and Kak Chik. The mango tree has been the passage taken by the rat to get in to the house from the roof. After all, the tree was showing signs of being attacked by termites!
Look...its Pa up there starting off the tree chopping with the smaller branches
Pak Lang and Pak Su joined in to help
Here's Mama showing some muscle...and finally the mango tree...minus all the upper branches
After all the hard work by everyone, Pak Lang treated everyone to icecream.
As for me...I just watch all the events from the sideline. Perhaps when I'm a little older, I would have a part to play.
That evening Mak Ngah and Kak Cik left early for their Semenyih home followed by Mak Lang & family who were headed for Pak Lang's kampung in Lubok Cina.
Pa, Ma & I left for Rantau that night, leaving Mama & family with Wan. It was a great Aidil Adha get together for Pa & his siblings.
