MMR Jab

Today, Pa & Ma brought me to the clinic for my scheduled 12th month jab called MMR; Measle/ Mump/ Rubella. I was supposed to see the doctor around Raya recently but as you can guess, we were all busy with the celebration, visiting etc etc. Fortunately, this particular jab can be administered anytime between 12 to 14 months.

And today is the lucky day for me (really?). Ma called the clinic in the morning to check if our regular doctor was on duty; he sure was on duty between 8.30am to 3.00pm.

We left for the clinic after Pa had his lunch at home. As usual, the clinic was packed with patients waiting to see the doctor. Hmmm...why are there many sick people around?

Lets follow the rest of the story below:

Just look at Ma & I...all dressed up for my appointment with the doctor

Waiting for our turn at the clinic...with Pa

...and Ma

To keep us babies occupied, the clinic has a little corner with slide

I kept looking at a boy on the slide hoping Pa & Ma would allow me to go on it too

As usual...its Pa who would give in to my wishes with Ma keeping a watchful eyes.

Soon, my name was called by the assistant. My weight was taken first...I now weigh 8.1 kg! Pa & Ma had a long chat with the friendly doctor about child health, weight etc. We were assured that I am fine. A weight chart on the doctor's desk showed that my weight gain is normal.

We were ushered to the next room for my jab. I was stripped to my nappies and made to lay on the cold table. Held by Pa and the doctor's assistant with Ma standing in front to get my attention, the doctor drove almost an inch of the needle into my fleshy buttock. You can guess my reaction thereafter. I gave my high pitched 'Alisya Bootie' scream which I am sure could be heard throughout the clinic and around Seremban!

Here I am after the jab

In the car...in a kneeling position. Ouch! my bum hurts.

I know Pa & Ma meant well; so was the doctor. All these medication and jabs are part of the nasional health program for kids. We got flu medication just in case I fall ill after that jab.

When we reached home, Ma made me a nice warm chocolate flavoured milk. Before long, I was already in dreamland.
